Much better location than earlier models.base at pivot point is a weak spot that cracks easily, and wire rubs through quickly where it enters the body

More on the Mast

After reading all of the above I felt blessed that mine broke from a dog related accident ! As my Akita nudged it over while it was standing still power off ! After i disassembled my AP i notice the wire intact and saw the back order on the gps and decided to test for proper operation and then go to the good ole Epoxy. My patient work with a small brush and proper application, I lost the hinge concept and have the new mast in a bag still as the epoxied mast will outlive the quad. Poor design but fun platform.

Fair build, but performs well.

Similar to other users here, I suffered a low height flip over. When trying a temporary solution to fix, it failed completely in GPS mode and went nuts. Moral of the story, if it breaks, FIX IT right. And when inserting the rod for the hinge, I used a nice easy pressure with vice grips and inserted slowly with the smooth end first. Do this BEFORE you place the base on the body. That way you can see the alignment of the pin. The process went very smooth and was straight-forward.....(after removing props, and ALL OF THE SCREWS of the body. )

I agree with another user... make the mast able to flip BOTH ways! Please? ALSO.. IF you cut the cable, best bet is order the GPS Antenna as well. The connector at the board is a snap connector which will feed through the mast without modification.

Fragile

My original mast cracked after a low height crash. I puchased this replacement and it arrived very soon after ordering it. It is however very fragile. The metal rod didn't insert smoothly and my replacement mast now has a small crack in it near the holes where the rod goes through.. It still works but I'm very careful in raising the mast before flight.
Note: you must remove the props and separate the main body to install the mast. Not difficult to do but just be careful not to damage!

Only recommend this product because its the only one available, breaks super easy , the hinge point needs to be re- engineered and made stronger. gps away from body works well though
