Fragile and Unforgiving
Review by Daveatpdx on 6 Jan 2018review stating Fragile and Unforgiving
I also love the 250 CFX, in fact I have 2 of them, but this ESC that it uses is not durable and very unforgiving in any crash involving the tail motor. I’ve replaced 3 of these ESC’s just because I wasn’t fast enough on the throttle cut switch following a crash. What I believe happens is, if the tail motor freezes following a ground strike, the tail motor current will spike and instantly blow the tail motor control circuit on the ESC. About half the time on any crash involving the tail motor, I will lose the ESC. I’ve never blown the main motor circuit of the ESC probably because the main gear hub blows instantly and so the main motor never stalls.

Blade 250 cfx Dual Brushless ESC BLH4484
Review by Batwing on 11 Dec 2017review stating Blade 250 cfx Dual Brushless ESC BLH4484
I very much like the the concept for Blade 250 cfx heli. I have a Blade 230 rebuilt on microheli carbon fiber frame with aluminum cross members it is great. I was hoping that the 250cfx which I purchased would perform like this since the designs are very similar. However, I have had 6 ESCs fail on my new 250 cfx, one caused a fairly substantial crash and one caused fire which also burned up the main brushless electric motor.! My Blade 250 cfx is now shelfware. I am looking for a replacement ESC to make this heli operational. The last replacement I put in will initialize but when throttle is added the main motor turns 1/2 revolution and stops. Putting in stock replacement ESCs over and over is insanity. I am a heli pilot not crazy. In my opinion Horizon should offer an upgraded ESC, something by Castle would be nice! I would be happy to pay $80 for an ESC that works.
