I bought this part several months ago along with some other hop-ups for the tail section (aluminum tail case, aluminum pitch lever, aluminum tail blade grips). I did not expect any major performance gains with this part over the stock plastic part, mostly just improved durability.
After about two hundred flights, one day my B450 3D started spinning to the left (counterclockwise). After shutting down and inspecting the tail assembly, I noticed that my aluminum pitch control slider (BLH1668A) had come apart. The cylindrical section is screwed into the section with the arm with two ball links with very fine threads. This threaded connection had completely unscrewed itself. I applied loctite to the male threads on the cylindrical section.
After nearly one hundred more flights with little incident, I noticed some slop in the tail, but only when yawing in one direction. After landing, I inspected the entire tail assembly and discovered that the flange farthest from the ball link arms had almost completely worn away! This is aluminum we are talking about, not plastic. See the picture included.
The next day I replaced the worn aluminum part with a stock plastic part (LHS had it in stock). Maybe the designer / manufacturer of this part can point something out to me that I do not know. Should I not have loctited this part? Until then, I cannot recommend this part since the main reason I bought it was for durability and I have since had to replace it with the plastic version.
